Thr series Lost is about a group of people that are Lost on various levels of meanings. All are lost geographically and of course lost on various emotional and psyschological levels. When people are lost the solution is to be found and ultimately it is this journey to this point that interests us as a viewer.
There appears to be some posters on this site that appear to have lost their way and are looking to be found. I think that examining the series and understanding what makes the characters likeable and how they go about becoming less lost may help the posters on this site become less lost themselves and perhaps more likeable.

It would appear Stitch you have reached the same conclusion as many of us on this site, and why long term members are sitting back in the cheap seats watching the saddest, tragic little show, in the history of this website unfold!
We see people engaging in disputes, instead of intelligent debate about “Lost” the television show. We all know who they are, and don’t take issue with their right to express themselves, but how they are expressing themselves. With no class and no dignity!
We long for the day, when they pack up their tragic little acts, and take them down the road, preferably a dark alley, befitting junk yard dogs!.

I’m not going to flag this either. People ought to see it. it’s really a shame what happened. I can’t believe no one spoke up at seeing how someone was being harassed like that. Oh well. The outspoken one is here, and I sure have never been one for not speaking up!
I keep reading racecar this and racecar that. Well, Racecar wasn’t doing anything but minding his own business. He put up a non-theory and clearly marked it as that, didn’t try to trick anyone into wasting their time. Lots of others do the same non-theories. But he got attacked for it. Then he lost his cool. Despite his language he resorted to, I’m not seeing him as “the” bad guy here. He shouldn’t have lost his cool like that, but then he was being railroaded.
He was apparently attacked because he was believed to be someone else that one of his attackers had an old grudge with, Doukou. Incidentally, doukou never did anything either, it was others who came onto his thread to attack him over his opinion about certain aspects of the show. I’m fed up with seeing people hounded like that.
And I’m fed up with seeing newbies getting overly criticized. We don’t have anything for them, no orientation section, no question and answer section, no nothing. Given that, frustrating as it can sometimes be, we need to be a little more patient, or better yet, how about actually helpful?

Ozzig: You have nicely mischaracterized everything that happened. Well done. All of the racecars and doukou types — whether the same person are not — are trolls. They post things for their own amusement and to aggravate the users of the site. You can be fooled by them, you can ignore them or you can fight them. Ignoring them may be the best course, I chose to fight them — unfortunately I believe you have been fooled by them.
Stitch, your post is obtuse. I know you are trying to give advice to some people on this site (and I may be one of them), but you need to be more concrete in your analogy. It makes very little sense. I like the charcters on lost because they are all interesting and all very flawed — not because they are “likeable” as friends.

Chuck, no matter how nicely you try to defend your actions, words and behaviour pertaining to this situation you cannot, because there is simply NO excuse.
As a NEW member to this site, you chose to be downright vicious in how you handled yourself, with no respect or consideration for others on this website. You simply didn’t care whether you were offending other people or not!
You can blame others if that makes you feel more powerful about yourself, but I don’t recall anybody holding a gun to your head, am I correct??
So, Man Up! Take responsibility for the part you played, and stop attacking and blaming others. Our system, of Flag without comment, has been working quite well up until lately.
While it is nice to be important, it is important to be nice!

with all due respect, you are incorrect. I am not going to rehash it all, but you need to go back to see my first exchange with each of the folks I have had issue with — and it has been very few — they were not “nasty” — albeit, some were sarcastic. When I get slapped back with belligerence or downright nastiness, I responded in kind. I am certainly not a saint but I am also intolerant of trolls, fools and ignorance — call it my weakness.
I certainly do not consider myself “important” or “powerful” because I am neither (at least not here!). This is the world wide interweb and this site is pretty much a free for all. I would love if there was an ignore button that I could hit and avoid reading some posters drivel — but there isn’t. I would rather engage in debate about Lost here — but I will state my opinion on both form and substance — and on those that bring this forum down as well (and thereby be added to certain other people’s lists of “those that bring this forum down”).
BTW — I did not flag this thread as trollish as I did not consider it trollish. Apparently others wanted to get it off the “latest” page.

Chuck, I have seen the posts you mention, and you are not innocent. Regardless of who has done what, if you treat someone like a troll, you will have created a troll. If you insult someone, you solicit retaliation. Look at what has become of this website. It was comparatively peaceful until you and your friends began making snide comments to newcomers and those who had the audacity to argue with you in defense of their own post. Now look at all of the payback. Your supposed troll fighting techniques have failed abysmally and you have recreated the problem, but you do not seem to care. Your only concern seems to be pointing the finger elsewhere and proclaiming your own innocence.

I am not innocent — I admitted that already. But none of the other folks are “my friends” either. They just came up with the same conclusion I did.
The sorry state of affairs is that since the beginning of Season 4, there has been a marked increase in posted “theories” that are no more than unintelligible rants, insulting garbage and unnecessary repetition. I was a lurker here for months before I joined and I didn’t get negative until my encounter with the ultimate troll — doukou.
The other sad truth is that this site has not been kept up to date and is unable to handle the traffic it gets. There are no clear guidelines for how to post or what to post. I certainly spend far more time on a different forum than I do on this one…
The silver lining is that there are a handful of intelligent thoughtful people who post well thought out theories about lost that are entertaining and inspiring. That is why I keep coming back.
I have received enough public and private support that I am very comfortable that a significant percentage of the regulars here supported my fight against the trolls (although some disagreed with my tactics). Nevertheless, I am done discussing this matter and will cease the troll baiting — I will continue pointing out when people are doing things that make this site less readable but will remove the sarcasm and perceived “nastiness.”
